It’s been a beautiful spring in Philadelphia this year. The cherry blossoms bloomed a bit later than normal, but the petals are now starting to fall and cover the streets and sidewalks making for the most picturesque strolls through town. Last weekend, we had the opportunity to get up early and enjoy the gorgeous weather before most people had ventured out for brunch, etc. The quiet sun on weekend mornings is my absolute favorite. The softest light of the day seems to shine between sunrise and around 9:30ish, so I love when I’m able to wake up early enough to soak it all in. On that day, we had walked to brunch at Marathon on the Square and then wandered through Rittenhouse Square over to the Anthropologie flagship store.  So many beautiful neutral pieces in there at the moment! It was so difficult to resist splurging on this incredible knit maxi skirt and these darling linen Seastripe Shorts in a simple black stripe fabric.

I loved the easy shirt dress outfit I had thrown on that morning. A basic piece like that is perfect for this time of year as it looks so polished and can be dressed up for work with a blazer and heels or more casually for weekend wear as I had styled it here. I linked as many of the pieces I’m wearing below and shared lots of similar items that I’m currently loving. Hope you’re enjoying spring and getting to explore through your city or town while the weather is at its prime! xx – KMK

Designer Collaboration | Lilly Pulitzer x Target

lilly pulitzer x target

I was so excited when the team at Lilly Pulitzer x Target reached out to ask if I’d be interested in promoting their newest collaboration. As you’re probably well aware, Target collaborates with high end designers frequently to offer their styles at more approachable price points. In recent years, they’ve teamed up with the likes of Jason Wu, Proenza Schouler, Alexander McQueen, Missoni and Rodarte.

Their latest line with Lilly Pulitzer is fun, colorful, and perfectly timed with the onset of spring and summer. As evidenced by my latest outfit posts, neutrals have definitely been a consistent theme in my wardrobe for months. So of course when skimming through the Lilly Pulitzer by Target New Arrivals, I picked a few of my favorite pieces that could easily integrate into my typical everyday looks. Hope you enjoy the selection above and have time today to visit the Lilly Pulitzer x Target online shop to snag some items before they’re all sold out! I expect everything to sell out quickly as the items are available for a limited time only.

Happy Sunday! Hope you’re also out enjoying the beautiful weekend sunshine and a spicy chai latte!

  • Snake Coil Wrap – I’m so in love with the newest addition to my Alex and Ani #armparty. If you follow me on Instagram, you would have already seen the new snake coil wrap over the weekend. I love the meaning behind it and I think this may be the first scenario where a snake is painted in such a positive light. “Independent and intelligent, the serpent reminds us to continuously evolve and grow.”Alex and Ani

It’s finally starting to feel like spring! So this morning, we took a drive to pick up some fresh Sunday blooms and chai teas. We picked some lovely pink and white tulips which are now sitting in a couple vases around the house. It’s the perfect way to really embrace the season and bring some of the spring beauty indoors. Next time, will be sure to grab some bright yellow daffodils to embrace the even warmer weather. Usually when grabbing some fresh flowers, I don’t even think to ask the florist to re-arrange them for me. However, it seemed like a quite morning for the shop and the woman working was so thrilled to help with bundling up the different colored tulips into one beautiful arrangement. She wrapped them in a white, lace-printed foil and tied them up with white & pink ribbon. Such a small gesture, but she really laid them out nicely together and the delicate flowers rested gently in my tote for the rest of the morning.

Obviously my neutral obsession is still in full effect despite the transition in seasons. I just love these darling scalloped flats from H&M. They’re so simple and appropriate for the brighter springtime weather. Lauren Conrad put out an almost identical scalloped flat in her spring collection with Kohl’s this season. I linked them above for everyone! I also love this simple v-neck blouse from H&M’s recent collection. The wrinkled silk material is perfect for a casual, yet polished look. Hope you’re all enjoying this beautiful spring day and soaking up some sunshine outside!

I’m clearly obsessed with neutral looks this year. The palette is just so classic and polished. When I spotted this hat during a shopping trip last week, I knew it would style perfectly with all of my neutral pieces. This pretty cream style from H&M completely elevates the floppy hat trend with a simple gold band detail. The Hunter boots are another great staple item, both practical and stylish. After my sister gave them to me for Christmas, I have been researching all the cute Hunter accessories. I’ve decided to pick up a pair of the Hunter Genuine Shearling Liners – perfect for staying warm and toasty during a snowy day. Those will likely be saved for next year though, because sadly, this was probably the last wintry day of the year! While I’m looking forward to spring, the beautiful flowers, pretty fashion trends, etc., I will definitely miss these gorgeous snowfalls!

Irish Blessings

Alex and Ani’s Clover Charm

So excited about the latest addition to my Alex & Ani collection! I have had my eye on the clover charm for ages and finally found an opportune moment to pick it up. While visiting friends in Boston this past weekend for St. Paddy’s Day, we walked all along Newbury Street, the main shopping district in town. The girls at the shop were such sweethearts and helped me decide to get my first gold bangle from the brand. I chose to get my mom and sister the silver charms as they love wearing all silver pieces. I am thrilled with it and can’t wait to get some more gold pieces to mix in with all my silver ones. The meaning behind this particular charm reminds me so much of the time I spent studying abroad in Ireland and the welcoming nature of the Irish people there, “Luck | Fortune | Prosperity.” And it will of course always remind me of my second wonderful St. Patrick’s Day in Boston! Hope you have a lovely holiday and I’ll leave you with a link to my recent Spring/Green outfit post and an Irish blessing below.

Wishing you a rainbow
For sunlight after showers—
Miles and miles of Irish smiles
For golden happy hours—
Shamrocks at your doorway
For luck and laughter too,
And a host of friends that never ends
Each day your whole life through!

So happy it is starting to feel like spring. Took advantage of the nice weather this week by waking up early before work to wander a bit around Philadelphia and get a chai latte from one of the cutest cafes in the city. It’s so hipster with a tin time ceiling, chalkboard menu, and plenty of colorful salads, parfaits and pastries. While traipsing, we stumbled across this Hashtag art outside of a hair salon. The owners must have painted the wall and turned it into this simple but powerful piece of inspiration. I love finding little gems like this around town. They’re so unique to the city and serve as beautiful landmarks.

Hope you are enjoying these transition days into spring! It’s challenging to dress for the weather during this season-interim, but I love this look for a quick yet polished outfit. Simple skinny jeans with a pastel top and pretty flats are timeless and sweet. This pastel pink scarf from H&M is nearly always with me for good measure. So in love with this spring trend! I have been noticing them all over Pinterest lately and in shops around the mall. I was super hesitant about trying them out because I am such a loyal fan to the skinny jeans look. However, I am so glad I finally picked up a couple pairs of Joggers from PacSun. They were running a special on denim – buy one, get one free. So I scooped up a pair in this olive and another in “taupe/rose” which I actually already wore to the Philly Flower Show last weekend. Debating whether to put up those blog photos yet as the lighting washed out a lot of the colors. I’m just so excited about this new trend though that hopefully I can share that look soon too!

PacSun, Gap and several other brands are featuring joggers in their spring collections, each styled differently. I love the idea of pairing joggers with some simple chucks, flip flops for the warmer days, and definitely heeled booties (or sandals) as shown here. The relaxed fit is perfect for a casual look and I think a heel is a polished contrast to this comfy pant. I also dressed the outfit up some more with gold jewelry – bracelets, a pendant and some hoops. I typically only wear my stud earrings for a classic look, but it was a day to step outside the box on all fronts!

Outfit | Light Wash Skinny Jeans

grey and blue casual winter weekend outfit idea

In the recent past, I haven’t been a huge fan of faded denim. However after finding this comfy pair of faded jeggings at H&M, I am certainly appreciating the look of the light wash a lot more. The light blue denim looks so lovely paired with grey during this time of year. Yesterday was a beautifully grey Sunday and this color combo perfectly complimented the overcast skies. My two favorite girls and I made our way into the city for brunch with my brother and some of his college friends. Per the recommendation of my sister, we dined at Cook and Shaker in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philly. It was a great little corner spot complete with tin ceilings, Edison** light bulbs, and drinks served exclusively in Mason jars.

After brunching, we wandered through Northern Liberties and passed one of the best graffiti walls in the city. The California artist, Mauro Carrera, painted the most beautiful buffalo mural for this well traveled intersection. I am also obsessed with the eagle mural on the adjacent building but have yet to discover who is responsible for this piece.

Since this is the second time I have featured this gray mixed medium coat on the blog, I figured I should probably list out some new but similar options for you to shop below this time. I am linking up a bunch of my favorite items to recreate similar blue-grey looks. I think the faded denim is going to transition well from winter into spring. I can definitely see pairing these skinny jeans with pastel rose or light white tops as the weather lightens up a bit. I also found some great suede heeled booties like the Nine West pair here. The relaxed material really softens up a casual weekend day outfit like this.

There’s nothing I love more than an all-neutral look. So sophisticated and chic. And this winter-white outfit incorporates every piece I have been loving this season. The skinny corduroys are the perfect fit – the “curvy skinny” cut from Ann Taylor LOFT tapers in at the ankle to softly tuck into boots but still fits loosely at the hips. I also picked up a few LOFT skinny jeans that are even tighter around the ankle, however I kind of like the slightly scrunched up and relaxed feel of this corduroy pair. The winter white top is also LOFT and a mixed medium piece with cool faux leather sleeves. And I am obsessed with the wide lapels on this thick open knit cardigan. So warm and a serious statement piece.

My favorite part of this outfit though probably has to be the booties from Nine West. I have been hunting around for the perfect pair of taupe heeled booties for WEEKS and finally decided on this pair. The chunky 3 inch heel is appropriate for work, easy to walk in, and still tall enough to elongate the leg. The tan wool blend pea coat was another piece I searched for all season long! So thrilled when I finally found this cozy yet polished style at Uniqlo. I hardly ever shop there but I have been pleasantly surprised with the great quality so I’m sure I’ll be back! Hope you’re bundled up with blankets, a cup of coffee, and enjoying the snow!

Feeling Festive

festive outfit inspiration chic winter coat inspiration chic winter coat inspiration festive outfit inspiration

Since the Christmas and New Year holidays have come and gone, I am already excited for Valentine’s Day (my second favorite holiday after Thanksgiving). However, I would still like to relish in the wintry and festive vibes lingering from Christmas so I am sharing this festive outfit post today. An outfit like this transitions so well from the holiday season back into everyday winter looks. Simple, classic and with a touch glam. This sweater with the statement jewels was one of my favorites this past December. The neckline adds the perfect touch of festive sparkle. The boxy shape is balanced perfectly by a pair of black skinny jeans. These heeled booties also dress the look up with their dramatic pointed toe. I’m loving the chunky heels that seem to be trending more and more lately – so much easier to walk on than most other stilettos!

I’m also very excited to share the new blog layout this week. The site underwent a fairly major makeover but overall loving the new, streamlined look. I’m hoping it makes things easier to read and outfit photos appear a bit more HD. If you run into any issues navigating around, feel free to drop a line in the comments! Photo Cred – My sweet mom who treated me to a celebratory New Year’s lunch and graciously stopped to shoot this blog post! So happy we were able to ring in the first Friday of 2015 together! xx
