New blog series starting today! “Style Crush” is where I’ll gush about how obsessed I am with a celeb or icon’s personal style. I couldn’t think of another girl who would be more appropriate to kick off this new series with than Ashley Madekwe. Popular from the TV show, Revenge, and her own super-inspirational style blog, Ring my Bell, Ashley has made such a great name for herself both in television & the fashion industry.
One of the reasons I really admire Ashley’s style is because she isn’t afraid to test out fashion trends. I’ve compiled my favorite recent looks from her blog below. How chic is she!
Silk Pants –
A trend we all know I’m so fond of (see my post on silk shorts here & silk pants here)! Love that her bold red lip perfectly compliments the red cross-body Chanel. And she’s perfected the sometimes “Taboo-ed” task of pairing black & brown.
Three Trends at Once –
Ashley pairs three huge trends for summer all at once – a super cute crop top, in the holographic material, with ankle strap heels. Clearly a styling genius. (Sidenote – Rihanna rocked a look like this recently as well and received such praise all over style news & networks.)
The Kimono –
I was just chatting about the kimono trend a few days ago when I saw all the pretty options over at Urban Outfitters right now. I love that she’s paired this floral one with high waisted shorts for summer.
Peplum –
The peplum trend is seriously here to stay. ASOS has a really great peplum skirt out right now that I would be all over if I just had a cute place or event to wear it to.

It’s really fun to see a celebrity you admire wearing all the trends you’ve been observing and trying out yourself. Obviously, I’m on a much smaller budget than Ashley, but I still find lots of inspiration in what she wears and more importantly, in how she styles it all together.
