Nothing says “movie star glamour” like a floor length, body hugging, jewel toned gown. Lately I’ve been super focused on doing things that make me happy — ie. setting aside way more time for running, bubble baths nearly every day, shopping sprees sans the shopper’s remorse, sweets for breakfast, splurging on new perfume (see my Instagram post this morning!) — and I may have got a bit lost in some online shopping for dresses & gowns. I mean, Spring is prom/formal/wedding season after all. Dresses are entirely in order. Although I myself have no personal need for them, it’s definitely fun and relaxing to do some online shopping day-dreaming once in a while!
So I came across this incredible organza floor length gown a la Leighton Meester from Bridesmaid Tide UK and I’m completely obsessed. The mermaid silhouette and regal organza train are stunning. The shop will even custom dyed the dress to your liking. Now that we’re entering spring, I’d probably opt for a more flesh toned color like a pastel pink or nude. I mean, how breathtaking all that fabric would look. For all you ladies who are still getting dolled up for annual proms and college formals, I might be a shade envious at your opportunity to wear a fabulous gown this season. ;)
I also love the way Leighton’s makeup is done here. She’s rocking the perfect smokey eye, which reminds me – the Urban Decay Naked Palette 3 was just recently released in December! Has anyone tried it yet? I’m watching so many amazing reviews of the eye shadow color palette on YouTube that I’m feeling quite tempted to purchase it myself and maybe do a couple makeup video tutorials. The only eye palette I even own at the moment is the Urban Decay AMMO Palette which was given to me by one of my amazing friends. I seriously owe her, because I’ve had this set for months now and still find new ways to mix and match the 10 different color shades. My personal favorites are the metallic plum (Last Call) and shimmering champagne (Sin) colors which got me entirely through fall and winter.
Anyone else know of any tried & true shops for reasonably priced formal or floor length dresses? I shop Lulus.com typically, and after finding that gorgeous burgundy gown above, I’m definitely adding Bridesmaid Tide UK to my list. But it can be tricky to find elegant gowns that won’t break the bank so hope these suggestions are useful!
