Summer Crop Top Outfit

I never thought I’d say this – I wore a crop top. And I liked it.

Last summer when crop tops were really starting to become popular, I thought the trend was too much of a flashback to the 90’s. Think, Britney in “Oops, I Did It Again”… I was adamant that it would be a little phase, that they’d be back out of fashion before you knew it and that I certainly would not be wearing them. But after seeing enough style bloggers find classy ways to incorporate them into really chic outfits, I was persuaded to at least give it a try. So I strategically chose a day to test out the look, deciding that a crop top should seem fairly tame at a music festival on a hot summer day.

I love the way this charcoal gray crop top comfortably hugs your top and features a cool racer-back. One of my biggest gripes with crop tops is that you can often see your bra, which I just hate. I don’t know why, I think it just looks a bit tacky and distasteful. So before I wore the crop top, I looked for the best strapless bra to wear with it. The bra I got was super comfy and remains hidden under the top, so it’s a win-win. The high cut of the collar and form-fitting silhouette of the top paired with high waisted shorts keep the look very classy despite an exposed middle. Layering on a statement bib necklace also keeps the outfit really polished and gives it a real focal point. I love cool ocean-tones of this modern necklace as it will work well so many different color palettes this summer. Necklaces and other accessories can really make a bad outfit look good! I had a hard time deciding whether to wear a photo necklace or this statement bib necklace, however, the bib necklace looked best with this outfit. The colors complimented my shorts so well, if I do say so myself! The black sandals are also very feminine and polished with their thin straps.

Overall, I think the crop top outfit ended up looking quite thought-out and really chic. The cool blue & gray color scheme are perfect for a summer night out!
